Your Purchase Details

When you buy a painting:

I will provide you with a  Certificate of Authenticity with each art work you buy. The certificate describes the work, includes a thumbnail print of the work, the medium and support e.g. oil on canvas, and its dimensions. This will help safeguard your investment.

I use high quality, low fade paints to ensure that each work will last lifetimes. Painting should still be protected from long periods of direct sunlight. Oils take about a year to fully cure and should be varnished with a UV protective lacquer after that.

I give paintings names that a quite general to paintings, and in the tradition of historic painters. At the time of purchase I will prepare the certificate with a name of your own choosing, if you prefer this.  I think that naming a painting completes the relationship formed with the buyer, who sees the work in his or her own way as the name given by buyers is often their interpretation of the work, with particular personal meaning. I have stories for some paintings, particularly paintings with people or groups. Ask me about this. I will be glad to write these and send them to you if you like.

I have not framed paintings, which I see as the transition between the artwork and its decorative setting. I will be glad to introduce you to a framing shop.

Works for shipment can be removed from the canvas stretcher, rolled with a protective cover, and inserted in a protective tube. They will need to be reassembled.  Local sales can be picked up or delivered on the stretcher.

All prices will be given are in Canadian dollars, or in other currencies at current exchange rates net of fees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about this. You, the purchaser will normally pay shipping, insurance, and any import duties. These paintings do not bear tax.
